What ATEX equipment is needed on a hammer mill?

There are several types of ATEX facilities needed for a hammer mill:

Detection / prevention of dust explosion:

• Measuring the temperature of the housing,
• Measurement of the temperature of the air coming out of the hammer mill,
• Detection of sparks in the mill or in the air flow from the mill,
• Measurement of air flow through the mill in case of reduced flow (= increased temperature).

Limiting the consequences of a dust explosion:

• The hammer mill must be pressure-resistant,
• The hammer mill must be equipped with a pressure relief device that releases the overpressure without damaging the mill and/or other installation parts,
• Fire extinguishing facility in/after the hammer mill (installation).
